Alex Franz Zehetbauer is a performance and music artist currently based in Vienna. He holds a BFA from the Experimental Theater Wing at NYU Tisch School of the Arts where he studied and worked with Mary Overlie, Lisa Sokolov, Richard Foremann and Karen Finley among others. Alex’s works The Natural History of the Unicorn(’s Horn) [2012/2013], PE2O , Meərwif , and The Natural History of Witches  have been shown at various theaters and performance venues in NYC including Leimay CAVE, Theater for the New City, WOW, Coney Island USA, and Dixon Place. While living in NYC Alex was also a regular performer at Circus of Dreams and Hypergender Burlesque. Before moving to Vienna in 2016, he released his debut album Franz12. In Europe, Alex’s work has been shown in the Biblioteca Pública da Madalena [PT], Leopold Museum [AT], Museums Quartier [AT], and Herrenhaus Pottenstein [AT] where he had his solo exhibition i whaley like you. Alex is currently researching underwater acoustics/dance, whale emotional and sonic intelligence, and spiralic vocal composition. Alex is also trained in Aguahara and offers private sessions of this aquatic bodywork and movement practice. Alex’s work has been supported by Leimay CAVE, Arts Unfold, INK Initiative, and Arbeitsplatz Wien; he has been awarded the BKA Startstipendium für Musik und Darstellende Kunst (2018) and the TURBO Residency - ImPulsTanz 2018.
